Product Introduction

What is Pandan Leaf?

Pandan leaf is a fragrant herb cherished throughout Southeast Asia. Also known as “the vanilla of the East,” it adds a gentle sweet aroma and natural color to dishes and sweets. Heating enhances its fragrance and brings out its characteristic natural green hue. Though still relatively unfamiliar in Japan, it is a versatile plant with a gentle fragrance and wide range of uses, offering great potential.

Pandan Craft by Pandan Ambassador (trademark pending) is a contemporary craft that draws inspiration from the wisdom of grass weaving passed down through Okinawan lifestyle and culture, and emulates the sculptural beauty of Thailand's Pap Baitoey Pen Dokmai. It is shaped using pandan leaves.

Pandan leaves are not a material that can be used as long as rattan. Over time, they dry out, their color changes to brown, and their texture gradually shifts to a crispy feel. Yet, their gentle, sweet fragrance remains.

This very change is the charm of Pandan Craft. More than tools for continuous use, these crafts are meant to be gently left within daily life as objects that hold the air, scents, and memories of time encountered on journeys.
