I first became aware of pandan leaf when I was making Mt. Fuji Cake (Bánh Phù Sĩ), a Vietnamese snack, while attending a cooking class.
The aroma and simple flavour stole my heart, and I fell in love with pandan leaf.
Since then, I have participated in every cooking lesson using pandan leaf that I could and have furthered my understanding of how to use it in cooking and its place in food culture.
After a while, my interest broadened from just learning recipes in Japan to wanting to know about life on the ground where pandan leaves are cultivated, so I started travelling to different places in South East Asia.
Something I really felt when I was experiencing home cooking, markets and everyday meals was that pandan leaf is not an ingredient that simply adds aroma but that it is deeply rooted in people’s lives and cultures.
I felt that I really wanted more Japanese people to know the value of pandan leaves and that is the reason that I set up this business. I named this role Pandan Ambassador®︎. It means to accurately understand the characteristics of pandan leaf as a material and its cultural background and to link its appeal and potential to products, experiences and markets. I feel that this is the role that I should take.
As a company that specialises in pandan leaf we will work with our customers to create product ideas and concepts using pandan leaf, managing the whole process from production supervising to sale and continuing our activities with the hope that pandan leaf will become something familiar in everyone’s lives.

The Meaning Behind
the Name "Pandanova"
The company name was created by combining "Pandan" and "Nova" (bright star) to make Pandanova.
Pandan leaf, which is also known as oriental vanilla, is a tropical plant with a gentle, sweet aroma. It is firmly entrenched in the food and lives of the people of South East Asia as an aromatic or colouring in dishes or snacks as well as being drunk as a herbal tea.
Focusing on this pandan leaf as a material, Pandanova handles everything from working with customers to create product ideas and concepts and managing everything from product supervising to sale from the perspectives of linking agriculture, food, lifestyle and culture.
We accurately understand the background of the material and link its value to products, experiences and markets. The name Pandanova embodies the hope that we will be a company that opens up the future potential of pandan leaves.
